How-dee everyone. I promised to touch on the OSS/SOE side of Arms from WWI and WWII and so I shall. Here it goes...There were SOOOOOOOOOO many types of weaponry from those eras, it is hard to know where to begin or when to limit myself. So we will go with edged weaponry because that's what we know best at this moment.
(Below you see some OSS/SOE Tire Puncture devices, very cool. You also see some OSS pencils that had small triangle daggers in them. So cool.)

According to Wiki- The Office of Strategic Services (OSS) was a US Intel agency formed during WWII. It was the wartime intelligence agency, and it was a predecessor of the CIA. The OSS was formed in order to coordinate espionage activities behind enemy lines for the branches of the US Armed Forces. There were many detachments and many units within the US Army that were under direct control of the OSS. Many of the activities that they handled during wartime ops are classified and remain classified to this day. These were the guys who did the 'dirty work' so that our military had better intel and in some instances they gave their lives. In the CIA Headquarters in Langley there is a wall with stars engraved into it, one for each officer who has fallen in the line of duty.

Above you see an OSS Instructors Kit. They came with numerous examples of the types and styles of covert arms used by the spies and operators of the OSS and SOE. Some of my personal favs are the thumb daggers, the triangle daggers, and the coin blades.

Above you see the Peskett tool which is very very well know in the WWII OSS/SOE weaponry collector circles. It has a triangular spike, a garrote, a cosh or blackjack weighted ball, a handle,, and a wrist lanyard. It was bult witha seriosu purpose in mind, obviously. Then we have a WWII SOE Garrotte. SOme had handles like the one pictured m some had small balls on each end...I personally think it was based on concealability. the balls seem more compact and concealable. I have even seen OSS WWII garrottes sent to our boys over there that packaged in condoms. VERY Cool.

Anyways...I'm gonna wrap this blog post up. I can and will do more on this era of Arms soon. Email me and let me know if you want to see anything blogged about.
